Thanks, Christina! (The Adventures of Maverick & the Mrs.)

The rules:-Pass it along to 5 fabulous blogs.
List your 5 fabulous addictions

1. I agree, BlackBerry is an addiction! It's great to reply to e-mails anywhere, anytime. However, it also never lets me leave work... so it's good and bad I guess. Either way, I can't put it down!

2. Coffee. And I'm sacrificing a cup or two a day right now for the baby. Sure miss my afternoon dose!

3. Lancome Hypnose mascara in black. I've used it for years. Absolutely the best.

4. Exercise. Can't beat post-workout endorphins!

5. Abby Kate. I just love her so much and I'm completely addicted to her laugh, her smile, her hugs, her sleepy eyes and bedhead...

I am passing this award, which was passed to me by Maverick & the Mrs. to:

1. After All These Years
2. Letters To You
3. The Greatest Fan of Your Life

I'm going to continue Christina's chain and send this as a shout out to my fellow military wives. These three are the gals that I first met when Mike and I turned our lives upside down and joined the Marine Corps. We had so much fun those six months in Quantico, VA. I'll never forget Sommer, Marge and Carolyn, and I owe them so much for their support and friendship those first few months. I'm praying for you guys and your families always... love you!

On your post of receiving this award, make sure you include the person that gave you the award and link it back to them. When you post your five winners, make sure you link them as well. 16 Weeks

I had an OB appointment today. Dr. Martin says everything looks good. He has scheduled me for an ultrasound on March 11, when he said we'll most likely be able to tell whether it's a boy or girl. So only three more weeks!

Here are today's stats:
Weight gain so far: 7 lbs
Blood pressure: 110/62
Fundal measurement: "Exactly as it should be" was all that he said
Baby's heartbeat: 153 bpm

They also did the blood test for Down Syndrome, spina bifida, etc.

I've been feeling much better as far as the nausea and sickness thanks to my medicine, but I've got some major sinus issues now. Unrelated to the pregnancy, of course, but nonetheless annoying! I think it's going around here. I heard the nurses call it the New Bern Crud this morning. :) I'm just glad Abby Kate doesn't have it!

Recap of Our Trip to KY

Abby Kate and I traveled to Kentucky a few weeks ago to visit with family and friends. We had a wonderful time and it went by way too fast, just like it always does. We got to see a lot of our loved ones, but still regretted missing quite a few, too. There's simply never enough time to see everyone we want to see!

Abby Kate kept her Mimi and Pawpaw laughing and smiling. We got to spend a lot of quality time with my mom and dad and got to see Brian, Carrie and William a few times, too. Carrie and Brian are expecting a second baby, too! And she's due only eight days after me! We're so excited for them and can't wait to hear if William will have a little brother or sister.

I traveled to Lexington to meet my friends Julane and Debbie for lunch one day, ate dinner with my Mawmaw one of the nights and also got to meet up with my best bud, Lyndsay, for dinner one night. And guess what?! She and Pat are expecting too! And she's due only three days after me! I couldn't be happier for her and we've been talking babies ever since we both found out. Congrats, Lynds and Pat! We can't wait to meet him or her!

My cousin, Kristy, cut and highlighted my hair while I was in town. I was so grateful that she could do it and was thrilled with the job she did. (Thanks, Kristy!) Abby Kate got to play with her cousin Raelin while Kristy worked on my hair. She was in heaven playing dress-up, dancing and singing princess songs. I think she and Raelin have a whole lot in common!

One night near the end of our stay, a bunch of my girlfriends from college came over to spend the night, and the babies got to come to our grown-up slumber party as well. It was so good to see them all. We ate, laughed at the little ones, talked, ate some more, drank plenty of wine (except for me, of course) and enjoyed each other's company.

We had great fun in KY and look forward to going back in a couple months. Hopefully we'll be able to meet up with those of you missed this time.

Birds and Bees ... and Nets?

So this morning Abby Kate and I were sitting at the table eating our breakfast. Our conversation:

AK: Can I say hi to baby, Mommy?

Me: Sure (thinking she was talking about her doll baby sitting on the table, I held it out to her)

AK: No, Mommy... I say hi to baby in your belly.

Me: Oh, well OK (surprised at her request). Sure you can! (I get up and let her touch and hug my belly) That's such a sweet girl, Abby Kate. You're a good big sister.

AK: Can I hold the baby, Mommy?

Me: Well, you can't hold it right now, but when the baby comes out, then you can.

AK: When the baby falls out?

Me: Um, right. But we'll catch the baby. It won't fall.

AK: Baby will fall out? And then we'll catch baby? We will catch baby with a net? (her face as serious as can be)

Me: Uhhh... OK, sure. With a net. :)

Wonder Drugs to the Rescue!

We went to my first OB appointment last week. I know, I'm already in the second trimester, but that's the first opening they had. Everything looked good and the heartbeat sounded strong and fast. I'm due Aug. 9. I had still been having constant nausea and sickness, so my doctor prescribed Zofran... and RELIEF! I'd recommend it 100 times over to anyone having to deal with morning sickness. In fact, I think my prescription of Zofran will be my official Valentine this year. I've already kissed the bottle a few times. Sorry Mike. haha :) So anyway, I've been feeling much, much better although still extremely tired some days. But I'm not complaining - I'll take tired over nausea/throwing up anyday!

My doctor said we'll have an ultrasound done around 18 weeks (in another month or so) and we will hopefully find out what we're having then. Can't wait to share the news!

Our trip to Kentucky a couple of weeks ago was great! We saw lots of friends and family. A wonderful week! We ended up getting out of there the day before all that ice hit KY. I'll post pictures from our trip as soon as I find the time (and energy!).
