There has been a stop to the daily emails from Mike now. I haven't heard from him in two or three days. The email was the one saving grace to this whole thing. We found out we may not hear from them for possibly a few weeks because we can't know where they are/what they're doing. It's such a downer not to hear from him. Of course I worry, too. I have no idea when he's flying or if he's on a mission...
I can only find comfort in words that our good friend, Colin, wrote to me shortly after Mike left:
"[Mike's] awesome at what he does and he's an outstanding pilot. He wouldn't tell you that but it's true. Watching him take off in that video, I know that somewhere there will be Marines on the ground that will be lucky he's the one up there. Having trained with Mike over the years, I know he's a dedicated professional, a true patriot... He's in good hands...his own."
Mike is highly trained in the jet. He knows what to do in all possible situations. I feel comfort in that. And of course comfort that ultimately he is in God's hands.

You know, I think you have earned the right to be sad now and then. It is a situation that most of us really can't fathom. But the more heartfelt the sadness, the more outstanding the joy when you are reunited again.
I hope you continue to take comfort where you can, and after he returns, you will have that much more gratitude for all the moments you will share over the next half dozen decades or so.
Now go write him a good, old-fashioned love letter and drop it in the mail tomorrow ;)
Oh, Casey. Please know that if you need anything, Colin will always be here for you. If you have any questions or fears about what Mike is doing, he will help you out in any way he can. There is so much about a deployment that we don't hear about or don't understand and if you want to talk about it, PLEASE call us. I'm constantly asking him how this or that works and what this or that means. I'm trying to absorb it all before HE leaves! Sometimes it's easier to talk to a friend than to another Marine you don't know or even other spouses and sometimes it's good to hear it from someone who knows almost EXACTLY what Mike is doing. Hang in there! Hugs!
Praying that God will give you peace, comfort, and rest in the coming days . . . and of course lots of hugs and kisses from adorable little blond girlies!
What an amazing compliment. I have no doubt that he is fabulous at what he does. We'll be praying for him! (and you all.)
hang in there case...i'm keeping you guys in my prayers!
You and your family are in our prayers. :-)
