Entering Our 39th Week

Yep, that's right... week 39 (out of 40) begins Wednesday! (I'm due Oct. 18.) We are so close, it could be any day now as I am considered full term at this point. I have a feeling I'll go on or after my due date, though.

We went to our weekly OB appointment this morning. Everything looks great. The baby's head is down and I'm 1 cm dilated. There's a procedure the doctor can do to speed the onset of labor, but we decided to wait another week because Mike needs to finish up a few more flights before taking leave for the birth. I haven't had any painful contractions and I'm feeling very good. Dr. Branton is fairly confident that I'll make it to our appointment next week.

Some additional stats:

- Blood Pressure: 111/70

- Weight gain: 30 lbs so far

- Fundal Measurement: 36 cm

- Baby's Hearbeat: 130 bpm

Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers as we count down the remaining days!

If the procedure you are referring to involves ripening the cervix, I would suggest a much less painful alternative: drinking Red Zinger Herbal Tea. When I reached four days past due date, Matthew's coworker suggested this and it worked! I drank two mugs of Celestial Seasonings Raspberry Zinger Tea around 7 and 9 pm, and my water broke at 3am! One of the nurses the next day when we were in recovery said she had heard that to be confirmed as well. Like you said, maybe wait until next week after Mike's flights but if you due date arrives, start sipping tea!!

yes, case, please go for the red tea option. it sounds so much less scary! i'm all for her staying in there until her due date. the longer she waits...the smaller she will be at her photo shoot.

hang in there...

OMG, can't believe it's so soon! I can't wait to meet her! And it's amazing (and great) that you're feeling so good at this point in the pregnancy. I'll be watching for that phone call when you go into labor...but who will it be from....You or my Mom? Lets see how this news travels! Ha Ha
